Basil Read has experienced a great deal of success in Enterprise Development.  Newport Construction in which Basil Read holds a 51% shareholding is fast becoming the leading black empowered construction company within its niche market.

Basil Read has also identified a company, Bokhomo Mpha (Pty) Ltd, which the organisation has chosen to assist and mentor with the intention of becoming a sustainable “stand-alone” company operating in the civil engineering and building market.  This new initiative will address all aspects of the knowledge and skills required to operate a construction company.

Basil Read is making significant progress, particularly in creating an equitable working environment for its people and in developing their full potential.  Individual development, equality and performance-based advancement are the cornerstones of Basil Read’s approach to employment together with maintaining a balanced and highly skilled workforce.  Accelerated opportunities for talented people are steadily eradicating past inequalities, ensuring an improved skills set for the continued growth of the Group.

Continuous development unlocks individual potential, and numerous opportunities are extended to every member of the Group.  Diverse, quality training provided by accredited providers covers a broad range.
