The company is currently working on the infrastructure at the Coega Industrial Development Zone, which mainly includes roads and bridges and several other projects in collaboration with Basil Read. SPRAY PAVE
In 2006 Basil Read acquired a controlling interest in SprayPave. Originally established in 1981, SprayPave is a supplier and sprayer of bituminous products and services to the road, building, and waterproofing industries. Based in Alberton, the company offers international-standard technology and a state-of-the-art fleet of bitumen distributors to clients across Sub-Saharan Africa.

BLASTING AND EXCAVATING (B&E)
Specialising in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, crushing, screening, plant hire and blast monitoring, Blasting and Excavating (B&E) has a strong presence in the contract mining and civil engineering industry. From small beginnings, B&E, soon became one of the largest contract drilling and blasting companies, and foremost user of explosives in the construction industry of South Africa. B&E joined the Basil Read Group in 2007, following the conclusion of an acquisition deal.

BR-TSIMA CONSTRUCTION (PTY) LTD
BR-Tsima is a company geared to render a quality construction service to the North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces and was born out of Basil Read (Pty) Ltd’s regional strategy to establish empowerment partnerships. Established in May 2003, BR-Tsima secured its first contract in July of that same year.
Through its stakeholders, BR-Tsima is able to offer its clients the highest level of technical construction skills and experience, as well as a proven track record. The service offering includes rendering a construction contracting service in roads, civil engineering, and building. BR-Tsima is also well-equipped in the area of design, allowing the company to offer clients ‘Design and Build’-type contracts.

CODEVCO
The City of Johannesburg and the Gauteng Provincial Government acquired land and assigned Codevco (Pty) Ltd (Basil Read Developments being the lead partner of the private sector consortium) to develop Cosmo City. Codevco is not just the developer of Cosmo City, it has tackled many challenges in order to help create a viable, socially vibrant environment. Codevco was not only largely responsible for launching the Cosmo City Chronicle and the annual Cosmo City Garden Competition to help instill a sense of pride in this diverse community.

ROADCRETE AFRICA
Basil Read announced on 26 May 2008 that it had reached an agreement with Roadcrete Africa to acquire all shares in the business. Roadcrete Africa’s core business is the provision of road building and civil engineering services, which meant that the acquisition would result in a seamless integration with Basil Read’s Roads and Civil areas of operation. This has ensured that the synergies enhance the profitability and competitiveness of the Basil Read Construction Division

At the end of 2009, Basil Read (Pty) Ltd concluded an acquisition deal that will significantly enhance the future capabilities of its building division as it welcomed P. Gerolemou Construction / Mvela Phanda Construction into the Basil Read Group.
Since its establishment almost 30 years ago, P. Gerolemou Construction has gone from strength-to-strength to become a successful and dynamic player in the building industry. With an excellent track record and a name held in high regard, backed by the managerial and building expertise of its directors and management, the company has earned its place among the country’s leading building companies.
The company has over time completed a number of projects for the Department of Public Works and shall continue to foster opportunities in this regard.
