QSE/SHEQ

Safety always comes first at Basil Read. Clients expect it; the group’s divisions demand it; and the Basil Read employees live it every day. Therefore, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) have become the linchpin of all operations. In fact, Basil Read was the first South African construction company to achieve certification for all its activities throughout each operating division.

This was achieved by putting the right checks and balances in place. Basil Read also employs a dedicated Group Environmental Officer to achieve its goal of developing a sound environmental programme and achieving ISO 14001 accreditation.

With a dedicated group of full-time SHEQ practitioners forming an integral part of each division’s management, the Basil Read Group provides clients with the highest levels of quality, professionalism and expertise on every project and clients have come to recognise Basil Read as a reliable and conscientious supplier who is able to greatly reduce risk and increase productivity.

Never a company to risk complacency, Basil Read is also compliant with the requirements of the International Standards Organisation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act – the group has achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
